Conservation-grade Garment Covers and Bags

Tried and tested by the RAF Museum, CCA’s conservation garment covers and bags give protection from dust, light, mould, moisture and pests.

CCA’s conservation covers are made from Tyvek ®, which is the fabric named in the Factsheet produced by the Scottish Museum Council, “Caring for Textile Collections in Museums”, as “the ideal material” for conservation bags. They are

  • Non-linting, so they don't create dust

  • Non-woven, so they don't let dust through

  • Anti-static and silicon-free, so they don't attract dust

  • Inert, so they don't support or attract dust

  • Breathable, so they don't allow moisture build-up

  • Acid-free and dye-free, so they don't cause discolouring

  • Lightweight, so they don't cause creasing

When the RAF Museum wanted help in protecting its collection of uniforms and flying suits, CCA was brought in because of its expertise in manufacturing products from Tyvek®. The original Conservation Cover designs were the result of close collaboration between the two parties.

CCA’s range of conservation covers and bags includes sizes and styles to suit most garments, but we are always happy to discuss specialist requirements.
